Information Secretary Khwaja Mia stressed showing respect to laws in expressing one’s opinion despite freedom of expression being a fundamental right.
“Although freedom of expression is a fundamental right, everyone
should show respect to laws in expressing his or her opinion,” he said this on Monday while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with the officials of Press Information
Department (PID) at its conference room here, a handout said. Khwaja Mia assured the public relations officers (PROs) of the Information Ministry of providing all-out support for performing their responsibility with optimum professionalism.
He said the PROs must acquire capacity so that they can work keeping pace with the challenges of globalisation.
Urging media personnel to present authentic information, the information secretary said the PID must achieve the capacity of preventing misleading rumours being spread through social media. Chaired by Principal Information Officer Surath Kumar Sarkar, the meeting was also addressed by Additional Principal Information Officer Md Shahenur Miah.
