Infant, woman killed in Dhaka

A five-month-old infant in Adabor and a woman in Mohammadpur were killed in the capital today.
In Adabor, a five-month-old baby girl was killed in a slum adjacent to Adabor Bazar around 12:00pm, Samiul Islam, a sub-inspector of Adabor Police Station,said.
The mother told the police official that the baby was killed while her mother was boiling milk for her at a nearby kitchen.
Further details of the crime could not be known immediately, Samiul said.
In Mohammadpur, Jhorna Begum, 26, was allegedly killed by her ex-husband at a house on Sadek Khan Road around 5:30am, said Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station.
Family members told the OC that Jhorna Begum’s ex-husband Sohag stabbed her indiscriminately while she was returning from the toilet and escaped, leaving her dead on the spot.
After divorcing Sohag last month, Jhorna was living at her uncle’s house, the OC said, adding that efforts are underway to arrest Sohag.
