Anwar Hossain, the founder and chairman of Anwar Group, one of the largest and oldest industrial conglomerates in the country passed away.
He breathed his last on Tuesday (August 17) night while undergoing treatment at Labaid Hospital in Dhanmondi. He was 83.
Anwar Hossain, a former Member of Parliament of Lalbagh constituency of old part of Dhaka and founder of City Bank, had been suffering from dementia and memory losses since 2012.
His namaj-e-janaza was held at 10:30am on Wednesday at Baitul Aman Jame Mosque at Dhanmondi.
Anwar Hossain is one of the oldest entrepreneurs in the country.
He is survived by four daughters and three sons and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rizwan Rahman expressed his deep condolences at the sad demise of Anwar Hossain.
