Staff Reporter :The Rapid Action Battalion [RAB] arrested five members of the kidnapper’s gang, who were involved in kidnapping an industrialist’s son, raiding a secret den of criminals in the city’s Uttara on Sunday. The elite force also recovered Tk 1.75 crore ransom money from the possession of kidnappers.According to RAB, the kidnappers abducted Abeer, son of an industrialist, from the city’s Cantonment area, around fifteen days ago [on May 2].The kidnappers demanded Tk 2 crore as ransom from Abeer’s family in exchange of his freedom. Responding to their demand, the victim’s family paid Tk 2 crore to the kidnappers. Abeer was released on May 6. “The RAB had started an intensive investigation to nab the gang of kidnappers just after the abduction,” Mufti Mahmud, Director Legal and Media Wing said.He said, “Acting on a tip-off, a special team of RAB arrested five kidnappers along with Tk 1.75 crore from their possession on Sunday.”Uttara police said no case was filed in connection with the abduction till yesterday night. Besides, the RAB officials decline to disclose the name of the victim’s industrialist father showing security reason.
