AFP, Seoul :
Anthony Sinisuka Ginting upset world number one Son Wan-Ho at the Korea Open on Saturday to set up an all-Indonesian men’s singles final with fellow countryman Jonathan Christie.
Ginting, ranked 24th in the world, lost the first set 16-21 but went on to triumph in the second and third sets 21-18, 21-13 as local favourite and top seed Son failed to show off his trademark attritional style of play.
Christie, world number 22, meanwhile beat Taiwan’s Tzu Wei Wang, ranked 12th, in straight games 21-13, 21-17, to grab the other place in the finals.
In the women’s singles, India’s Pusarla V. Sindhu advanced to the last two after downing China’s He Bingjiao 21-10, 17-21, 21-16.
Sindhu, an Olympic silver medialist and fifth seed, will face Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara on Sunday.
Eighth-seeded Okuhara defeated her compatriot and third seed Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-18.
