Indonesia wants to invest $1.3b jointly with BD

Indonesia recently offered new proposals of large joint-venture (JV) investment of around $1.3 billion in Bangladesh’s energy sector.
After implementation, this joint venture initiative can help the bilateral relations with Bangladesh to grow more with significant economic weight.
The matter was discussed when Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Heru H Subolo, met Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
Masud narrated before the Indonesia Ambassador how Bangladesh achieved economic strength under the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina dynamic leadership.
He urged the Indonesian investors and business community to explore the potentials from opportunities prevailing in Bangladesh.
While talking on the global supply chain disruptions and inflationary pressures caused by pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia conflicts, Foreign Secretary Masud put importance on accelerating bilateral and regional cooperation to face these challenges. He also talked on the need of direct air connectivity between Dhaka and Jakarta.
They exchanged greetings on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of diplomatic relations this year and talked meaningfully on existing excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia.
Masud shared that Bangladesh achieved independence on the very ideals of democracy, justice, tolerance and secularism.
The foreign secretary also dwelt on the many commonalities that bind the two countries.
The ambassador assured the Indonesian ambassador of taking necessary initiatives to celebrate the 50 years of diplomatic relations in a befitting manner.
Masud Bin Momen welcomed the Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh, and gave him assurance that all possible support would be provided to him and to his mission in Bangladesh.
