BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Advisory Council member and former Railway Minister Suranjit Sengupta, MP, hoped that the relations between Bangladesh and India would further be cemented with the resolve of Teesta and border crises. “We hope that both the Prime Ministers would resolve in talks the existing problems between the two close neighbours during their visits to Bangladesh and India,” he said.
Suranjit Sengupta, a senior parliamentarian of the ruling
Awami League, said this on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on current politics at Diploma Engineers Institution at Kakrail in the capital.
Bangabandhu Academy organised the discussion with its president Barrister Zakir Ahmed in the chair. Ishtiaque Ahmed Deedar, Haroon Chowdhury, Atiqur Rahman Atique and Humayun Kabir were the discussants, among others.
Suranjit Sengupta said, “Positive talks between the government and the Indian eternal affairs minister were held. Fruitful discussion between the two countries was held in the light of continuation of peace in the region through establishment of friendly relations with the neighbouring countries.”
The senior Awami League leader hoped that both Bangladesh and India would resolve all the problems in the coming days keeping their respective interests.
He called upon all the political parties to work together to give democracy an institutional shape in the country. “Protection to democracy can’t be achieved bypassing the country’s highest democratic institution, the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament). It’s the top most priority to establish democracy in the country by honouring the Jatiya Sangsad,” Suranjit Sengupta added.
