After giving a heroic fight against Australia, the plucky Bangladesh will take on favourites India in their third match in Group 2 of the ICC World Twenty20 at Bangalore in India today (Wednesday). The do-or-die match starts at 8.00 pm. Bangladesh Television and G TV will telecast the match live.
The Tigers suffered a slim three-wicket defeat to Australia in their second Group- 2 match at Bangalore on Monday.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost to Pakistan by 55 runs in their first Group- 2 clash at Kolkata on March 16.
On the other hand, India tasted a 47-run defeat to New Zealand in their first Group- 2 match at Nagpur on March 15.
Later, India composed an easy six-wicket victory over Pakistan in their second Group 2 match at Dharamsala on March 19.
If Bangladesh win today’s match, the Tigers will have a little hope to play in the semi-final. Besides, Bangladesh have to beat New Zealand in their last match of Group 2 in Kolkata on March 26.
On the other hand, if India lose to Bangladesh, India’s hope to reach the semi-final will be faded.
Vice-Captain of Bangladesh team Shakib Al Hasan said, ” Fielding is very important in a T20 match. We want to hold all the catches. We also want to save runs by spectacular fielding. On Monday we failed to show appropriate fielding. It is frustrating. There are many young and up to the mark fielders in our side. I hope that we shall improve our fielding and correct our mistakes, which we did yesterday.”
Shakib said, ” Fielding can make difference between two teams in a match. We cannot perform in the field with our best cricketers. So, we have to implement all the opportunities. A team can win a match after performing a good fielding.”
Captain of India team MS Dhoni said, ” I still feel there is still scope for improvement and in the coming two games that will be our priority. We will keep fighting. We still have two matches to fight hard.”
Dhoni said “In the first game our run rate went down. So it’s not only about winning, but we have to take care of the run-rate at some point.”
