Indictment hearing against 8 Jamalpur Razakars ends

The Prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-1) on Wednesday concluded their hearing on charge framing against eight alleged Razakars from Jamalpur.
The eight accused are – Md Ashraf Hossain, Sharif Hossain, Abdul Mannan, Abdul Bari, Md Harun, Abul Hashem, Shamsul Haque and SM Eusuf Ali.
Barrister Tapos Kanti Baul took part in the hearing on five charges brought against the accused, followed by Barrister Tureen Afroz, who argued on legal points on the charge number one.
Narrating the heinous crimes committed by the accused, especially by Shamsul Haque and SM Eusuf Ali, Tapos described how the duo commanded all the crimes carried out in then Jamalpur sub-division from April 22 to December 11, 1971.
After the end of the prosecution hearing, advocate Kutubuddin Ahmed, counsel for Md Harun, Abul Hashem and Abdul Bari submitted discharge petitions for his clients.
Advocate AY Masihuzzaman, counsel for Shamsul Haque and Eusuf Ali pleaded for time for preparation. Accepting his plea, Justice Awarul Haque, chairman of the three-member panel of ICT-1, adjourned the hearing till October 7.
