A Dhaka court yesterday fixed December 2 for hearing on charge framing in two cases filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for celebrating fake birthday on National Mourning Day and stigmatizing the Liberation War, rehabilitating anti-liberation forces.
Earlier, Wednesday Nov 17 was fixed for hearing on the matter, but Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor refixed the date allowing the time plea of the defense.
Journalist Gazi Jahirul Islam lodged the fake birthday case against Khaleda Zia on August 30, 2016, and the court on that day issued summon against the BNP leader.
According to the complainant, Khaleda Zia since 1996 has been observing her fake birthday every year on August 15, the day when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was martyred along with most of the members of his family.
