Customs Intelligence officials seized a large amount of Indian fake currency and contraband medicine from the cargo section of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital Sunday noon.Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs intelligence conducted a drive at the cargo section of the airport at noon and recovered the Indian currencies and medicine stashed in five cartons.Had the seized money not been fake, its value, in local currency would have been more than Tk 6.0 crore and the value of medicine worth Tk 1.0 crore, customs officials said.  Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Assistant Director Ayesha Akhter endorsed the information. “The haul was made upon a tip-off around 9:30am.” “The consignment was enlisted under the name of Kamal Ahmed, addressed to 36/A South Keraniganj,” she added. “The supplies arrived from Pakistan.”
