Two Indian professors at a meeting with Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique in the city on Sunday stressed introducing joint collaborative research programs on various issues including river management, climate change, protection of the Sundarbans and environment. They also discussed academic networking, exchange of data and possibilities of exchange of teachers, students and researchers between academic institutions of Bangladesh and India. The visiting professors are Prof. M Chakraborty, director of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, India and Dr Avijit Gangopadhyay, Fulbright Professor of the School for Marine Science and Technology of University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, USA.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest specially possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs by the Department of Oceanography of DU and the Indian Institute of Technology. Dean of the Faculty of Earth & Environmental Sciences Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and chairman of the Department of Oceanography of Dhaka University Prof Dr Md Kawser Ahmed were present on this occasion.
The DUVC also thanked the guests for their visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic activities, the press release added.
