Staff Reporter :The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) of India is going to establish incubation centres for the development of the Bangladesh’s SME entrepreneurs. General Manager of NSIC Praloy Dey said this at a discussion with members of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in the city on Saturday. Held in the DCCI conference room, the discussion was participated by DCCI Directors AKD Khair Mohammad Khan, Alhaj Abdus Salam, Asif A Chowdhury and Nessar Maksud Khan. Praloy Dey said, in the next five years India will mostly emphasize on the development of its agriculture and SME sectors. He informed that there are about 40 million SME entrepreneurs doing businesses in India. SME in India contributes 9 per cent to its GDP.Through the incubation centres, he said, they will train up Bangladeshi SME entrepreneurs through various projects which will enhance their technical know-how.Addressing the meeting, DCCI President Hossain Khaled said, micro and SMEs are the life blood of our economy. Employment for 25 per cent of our population is generated from SME sector. He urged the government as well as the private sector to take holistic approach for the skill development of the country’s SME entrepreneurs. Regarding establishment of Incubation Centre, he said, entrepreneurs from SME sector would be benefitted much from appropriate technology, training and guidelines. “If we can ensure capacity building of SME, large industries would be able to outsource raw materials from this sector which will help reduce dependency on import of raw materials from abroad,” said the DCCI President.
