Customs officials at Hazrat Sahjalal International Airport detained an Indian national and recovered gold bars weighing 8.6 kg from his possession at the airport Monday afternoon.
The detainee was identified as Zawed Akter, 32,. He arrived here from Bangkok by an aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Sources at the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate said, being tipped off, customs officials followed Zawed after he came out of the aircraft.
When Zawed entered a toilet of boarding bridge to hide the gold bars customs officials caught him red handed, said Director General of Customs Intelligence Mainul Khan.
