Indian goods worth Tk48 lakh seized in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian goods worth Tk48 lakh at Amrakhali border point here early Friday.
Acting on secret information, a team of BGB-26 conducted a drive in the area and recovered the Indian contrabands worth Tk48 lakh in an abandoned condition while they were being smuggled into the country through Amrakhali check post early in this morning, said Deputy Commander of BGB-26 Mohammad Liakat Ali.
The seized items including saris, three-pieces, bronze statues, readymade garments, medicine, key rings, mobile phone sets, cosmetics, Phensidyl syrup, tealeaves, electronic tools, hardware equipment, foods and cumin seeds were deposited to Benapole Customs House.
None was arrested in this connection as the smugglers managed to flee sensing the presence of the border guards.
