Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Monday arrested an Indian citizen at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) with foreign exchange worth Tk 2, 28, 06,027.
CIID identified the accused as Md Salekin Sheikh from Calcutta and was intended to fly by a Biman flight of Dhaka to Bangkok route. The accused was bearing Euro 1,96,000, Frank 41,940, 240, Thai Bath 2,040, Yen
10,05,000, Indian Rupee 12,850 and Taka 7535.
Tipped off, CIID lead a drive and kept an eye on him who arrived from Calcutta by a flight of Bangladesh Biman. CIID team challenged him while he was receiving outbound boarding pass at HSIA. They had searched and scanned body of the accused passenger and his baggage, where he was hiding the foreign exchanges.
