India,Korea tie drawn in Asia Cup Hockey

India came from behind to force defending champions Korea to a 1-1 draw in their first Super 4s match of the Hero Men’s Asia Cup Hockey held on Wednesday at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
Both teams were goalless at the end of the first half despite repeated attacks. However, Jungjun Lee of Korea in the third quarter gave Korea the lead after repeated attacks on the Indian defense.
Going in the fourth and final quarter, India needed a brilliant display of play to break the solid Korean defense, which had left the Indians frustrated.
However, Gurjant Singh equalised for India in the dying minutes of the game to share one point each and continue their unbeaten run.
Earlier today in the first Malaysia surprised Pakistan as they too came from behind to beat Pakistan by 3-2 margin at the same venue.
India earlier has registered convincing wins against Japan (5-1), Bangladesh (7-0) and Pakistan (3-1).
The Super 4s consists of India and Pakistan who topped Pool A along with Malaysia and Korea who topped Pool B respectively. Starting Wednesday, each of the teams in Super 4s with play against each other and the team that finishes top two in the Super 4s Pool Standings will make the Hero Asia Cup final on October 22 while the other two teams will battle for the bronze medal.
Next Pakistan play Korea today (Thursday) at 3 pm while Malaysia will be up against India in a crunch tie on the same day at 17.30 pm.
