India reiterated that it would not interfere in the internal matters of Bangladesh and hoped the people and the government of Bangladesh would resolve the issues themselves, report agencies.
“… It is not our policy to intervene in matters, which are essentially in the domestic jurisdiction of any of our neighbours or elsewhere,” Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), told a media briefing recently in New Delhi.
Asked for comments on the ongoing political unrest and violence in Bangladesh, he also said, “All we do is, we wish Bangladesh, its Government and people all the very best; and hope that they resolve their issues themselves. It is not for the Government of India to make any judgment call on that.”
New Delhi has reiterated its foreign policy of not meddling in the domestic affairs of its neighbours, including Bangladesh.
