India to rest their star players in the upcoming bilateral series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has given an official statement that the world can say whatever they want but the Indian cricketing body will continue resting their key limited overs cricketers like skipper Virat Kohli and fast bowling duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah keeping the ICC cricket world cup in mind which is eight months away from now.
The Indian captain attracted a lot of criticism when he was left out of the squad for the recently concluded Asia Cup which took place in the United Arab Emirates. The irony is India won that tournament being unbeaten throughout without their star skipper. Rohit Sharma led the side quite comfortably. Kohli could be again rested for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.
“Virat could be rested again if need be to ensure he is fit for the World Cup. It is a rotation policy which the team has initiated to keep the best combination for the World Cup in June 2019”, a BCCI source told TOI.
The main reason for testing these star cricketers is that they feature in the all three formats for their country on a regular basis. So it is important to manage the workload on their body as fast bowlers are very injury prone and their body is fragile compared to the spinners. That’s why Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah are expected to be rested even more.
India is going to face two toughest tours of them all when they travel back to back from Australia to New Zealand in between November to February.
