India taste first win beating Bangladesh 2-1

UNB, Dhaka :India tasted the first victory in their 2nd Group B match of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers as they came from behind to beat hosts Bangladesh by 2-1 goals in a hard-fought match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Sunday. This was the first defeat for Bangladesh in their 3rd group match after beating Jordan 1-0 and crushing UAE 6-0. The wonder girl of Bangladesh, Sanjida Akhter, who scored twice against UAE and netted the match-winner against formidable Jordan, again put Bangladesh ahead on Sunday in the 20th minute from a penalty (1-0).Referee awarded the spot kick when local forward Krishna Rani was brought down by Indian defender Amrita Kumari near the goalmouth. Indian forward Roja Devi leveled the margin in the 29th minute, also from a penalty (1-1). Bangladesh defense comprising Sharmila Bairagi, Masura Parvin and Khadija Akhter Sima tried to resist Indian forward Sushmita Bardhan in the danger zone, but the Australian referee Katherine Margaret treated this as illegal and awarded the spot kick. Bangladesh were reduced to ten players in the 64th minute when their defender Masura Parvin got the marching order after receiving red card for a rough charge against Indian midfielder Premi Chiru and India got a free kick from the top of the box. Indian midfielder Kashmina curved the free kick from the edge of the box and Bangladesh goalie Ayesha fisted the ball, but it landed in front of unmarked Roja who found the net from close in the 74th minute (2-1). Bangladesh displayed a fighting performance from the very beginning to the final whistle against their superior next door rivals. Bangladesh will play Iran in their last match on Oct 23 while India will take on UAE in their next match on Oct 21.Earlier, Sunday afternoon, Jordan tasted their first win in the five-nation meet as they outclassed all-losers United Arab Emirates by 8-1 goals at the same venue.Leen Yasin opened the account in the 12th minute while Noor Mahmud Rajab Zooash doubled the margin in the 52nd minute and Tasnim Mohammed scored the third goal in the 57th minute for Jordan. Tasneem scored two goals in the 66th and 76th minutes while Luna Mazin netted a goal in the 68th minute and Yasmeen Muwaeih one goal in the 71st minute.The other goal for Jordan was a suicidal one as Amna Fahad of UAE sent the ball to her own net.Naeema Ibrahim scored the lone and first goal for UAE in the 92nd minute. UAE earlier lost to Iran and Bangladesh by 9-0 and 6-0 goals respectively.
