BSS, Dhaka :
The much-anticipated India-Pakistan grudge match of 6th Hero Asian Men’s Champions Trophy hockey, will be held on December 17, instead of December 16, as it was scheduled earlier by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF).
Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) in a press release on Wednesday said the BHF requested the AHF to defer all the December 16’s matches due to victory day and the AHF responded to the BHF request by pushing back those matches on that day including the India-Pakistan important match.
Apart from the India-Pakistan match, the remaining two matches of the December 16’s matches — Malaysia-Japan and Bangladesh-Korea– matches, will be held on that day (December 17). The dates of the remaining matches of the tournament will remain unchanged.
The six-nation tournament is scheduled to begin from December 14 at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
The six participating nations are hosts Bangladesh, Japan, India, Pakistan, South Korea and Malaysia – will play each other once in the league phase and the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals.
As a host, this is the first time Bangladesh is going to take part in this most prestigious hockey tournament in Asia.
