Indian batsmen dominated on the first day scoring 356 for the loss of three wickets in the first innings against Bangladesh in the lone Test match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, India on Thursday.
India made a poor start as opener Lokesh Rahul (0) was bowled out by promising pacer Taskin Ahmed when India’s score was just two.
Then Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara repaired the early damage contributing together 178 runs for the second wicket before Pujara was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off right-arm spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz when the hosts’ total was 180 for the loss of two wickets.
After dismissal of Pujara, Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli put on together 54 runs for the third wicket partnership before Murali Vijay was bowled out by left-arm spinner Taijul Islam when India’s score was 234 for the loss of three wickets.
Then Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane added together 122 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership.
Virat Kohli remained undefeated with 111. He hit 12 fours in his 141-ball innings.
Kohli reached his 16th Test hundred landmark playing 130 deliveries with 10 boundaries.
Murali Vijay notched up a superb 108 from 160 deliveries featuring 12 fours and a sixer. It was his ninth Test hundred.
Pujara made a polished 83 off 177 balls hitting nine fours. He reached his 12th fifty-run landmark using 108 deliveries.
Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten with 45. He struck seven fours in his 60-ball knock.
Bangladesh fielders showed a poor fielding, which made frustrated the 16 crore cricket lovers of the country. The fielders of the touring side dropped a number of catches, which paid them heavily.
Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Mehedi Hasan Miraz took one wicket each for 50, 58 and 93 runs respectively.
