U19 Cricket World Cup: India crush Canada by 372 runs in warm-up

Two centuries by captain Ishan Kishan and number four Ricky Bhui helped India beat Canada by 372 runs in their first warm-up match of the 11th edition ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP) ground-4, in Savar on Saturday.
Ishan collected 138 runs and Ricky stopped after amassing 115 runs as they batted in styele. They also contributed century plus partnership score in the first, third and fourth wicket.
Chasing a formidable target of 486 runs, Canada faltered at 113 for all in 31.1 overs.
Hars Thaker scored the highest 25 off 30 balls including four boundaries while skipper Abraash Khan scored 22 off 39 balls including four boundaries.
Akash Gill (17 off 31b; 4×4), Miraj Patel (14 off 30b; 3×4) and Mamik Luthra (12 off 17b; 2×4) were the other double figure scorers for Canada.
Mahipal Lomror grabbed three wickets for 19 runs in seven overs while Shubham Mavi and Zeeshan Ansari took two wickets each for 20 and 39 runs in four and 10 overs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, India scored 485 for 6 in 50 overs spurred by three century plus partnership score as well as the two centuries.
Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant played painstaking 12.1 overs to contribute 113 runs in the opening stand. Ishan paired with number four Ricky Bhui in the third wicket for 117 runs in 10.1 overs. In the fourth wicket, Ricky and Safaraz Khan stayed for a 104 runs in 12 overs.
Hammering 16 boundaries and seven sixes opener Ishan completed his 138 runs century before he retired out at team’s 259/3 in 28 overs.
Ricky’s 115 runs came off 71 balls involving 10 boundaries and seven sixes also retired out amounting team total to a marvelous 363/4 in 40 overs.
Rishabh Pant scored 62 runs off 37 balls with five boundaries and five sixes and was caught by Miraj Patel off Abraash Khan.
Mahipal Lomror fired an unbeaten 55 off 23 balls including four boundaries and four sixes; Safaraz scored 48 off 36 balls with four fours and one six while Armaan Jaffer (36 off 25b; 2×6) was the other double figure scorer for India.
A Haseeb, Abraash Khan and Harsh Thaker took one wicket each for 56, 70 and 102 runs in 8, 7 and 10 overs.
On Monday, India will play against their arch rival Pakistan at BKSP ground-4 while Canada to face Ireland at BKSP ground-3.
The 11th edition of the biennial 16-nation tournament features nine Test-playing nations and seven associate and affiliate members-Afghanistan, Canada, Fiji, Namibia, Nepal, Ireland and Scotland.
