India kept their semi-final hopes alive after beating Bangladesh by 110 runs in ICC Women’s World Cup (WC) league match on Tuesday.
Chasing 230 runs, Bangladesh skittled out on 119 runs with Sneh Rana taking four wickets conceding 30 runs in his 10 overs.
Salma Khatun top-scored with 32 runs aided by four boundaries while Lata Mondal and Ritu Moni scored 24 and 16 respectively. Earlier, Bangladesh were reduced to 35-5 in 17.2 overs, then Salma added 40 runs with Mondol for sixth-wicket stand.
Opting to bat, India posted a competitive 229 for 7 in 50 overs. Smriti Mandhana (30) and Shafali Verma (42) put on 74 runs for the opening wicket. However, India lost wickets in quick succession.
Following the openers, skipper Mithali Raj returned for naught as India slumped to 74 for 3 in 15.3 overs. Vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur (14) too was run out by Fargana Hoque.
