The Indian Council for Cultural Relations has announced scholarships for meritorious Bangladeshi nationals wishing to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD level courses in India for the 2018-19 academic session.
The Indian government has so far given 3,000 scholarships to Bangladeshi nationals, the High Commission of India in Dhaka said in a statement. The scholarships do not apply to courses in Medicine.
Candidates can apply for one of two scholarship schemes:
(i) Bangladesh Scholarship Scheme (for undergraduate courses including engineering, postgraduate courses and PhD/post-doctoral courses);
(ii) India Scholarship Scheme (for undergraduate courses excluding engineering, postgraduate courses and PhD/post-doctoral courses);
Applicants are required to be proficient in English and have secured a minimum of 60 percent marks or a GPA of 3.0 out of 5.0 in the qualifying examination.
The ICCR has set up a web portal for aspiring students looking to apply for the scholarships (https://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in/). Applicants must make an account with a login ID and password before submitting the applications.
All candidates applying for BE/B tech courses need to have studied physics, mathematics and chemistry in school leaving exams. Applicants must also be 18 years old by July 2018. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Saturday, Jan 20. Applicants must take a 30-minute English proficiency test, the date and venue of which will be announced later.
