India has agreed to supply Bangladesh 100 megawatts (MW) electricity from Palatana Power Plant.
Syed Akbaruddin, Indian foreign ministry spokesman, told it at a press briefing in a city hotel
in Dhaka on Thursday.
The Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant at Palatana produces a total of 726.6MW power.
On April 3, Dhaka decided to allow New Delhi to transmit power through Bangladesh soil in exchange of providing 500-1000MW of power to Bangladesh every day.
According to the plan, India will set up power lines for transmitting electricity from Assam to India’s north-western regions, using three routes via Dinajpur’s Barapukuria and Jamalpur.
