Ziaul Haque Mridha, an independent candidate in Brahmanbaria-2 Constituency (Sarail-Ashuganj upazila) was fined taka 30 thousand for using Sheikh Hasina’s photograph in his posters though his symbol is ‘Lion’.
The Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner of Ashuganj, ATM Murshed realised this fine from one of this candidate’s representative at the upazila compound on Monday evening.
Confirming the matter, the Executive Magistrate A. T. M. Morshed said that the mobile court after moving to the constituent area collected some posters and found Ziaul Haque Mridha who is contesting as an independent candidate used Mohajote leader and AL president Sheikh Hasina’s photograph.
After collecting these posters, Ziaul’s representative was called to upazila compound and 30 thousand taka was realised as violation of electoral code of conduct article-7 (4) that contains, no registered candidate can use photograph of the party chief if he or she isn’t belonged to as affiliated candidate of that party.
