The Independence Day Runner Open Tennis competition inaugurated on Thursday at the national tennis court complex at Ramna in the city.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Sri Biren Sikder MP formally inaugurated the meet as chief guest while Deputy Minister on Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy was present as the special guest.
Besides, Runner Group chairman Hafizur Rahman Khan, Bangladesh Olympic Association Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza, Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF) vice president and tournament director Mohammad Ali Dwin and general secretary Meer Khurshid Anwar, were among others, present on the occasion.
Sponsored by Runner Group and organized by Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF) a total of 250 participants from different federations and affiliated clubs/ associations are taking part in the five-day meet.
The competition is being held in men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles, boys’ singles under-14 year, girls’ singles under-14 years, boys’/girls under-12 years, boys’/girls’ under 10-year, boys’/girls’ under-8 years, senior 50 plus and senior 55 plus events.
