Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Thursday celebrated the 45th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh with due solemnity and in a befitting manner.
The day’s programme began in the morning with the hoisting of the national flag at the Chancery by Syed Muazzem Ali, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India. A special munajat (prayer) was offered for peace and salvation of the martyrs of Independence.
Later, messages from the President, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh given on this occasion were read out.
Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury made a presentation reflecting different heroic incidents of Liberation War in 1971.
A grand reception in the evening took place on the mission premises to celebrate the Bangladesh Independence and National Day. The chief guest of the programme was General (Retd) V. K. Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs, who attended the programme on behalf of the Indian government.
