The Independence and National Day was celebrated in the district on Thursday paying homage to three million martyrs of the Liberation War 1971.
Kishoreganj District Administration was heralded with a 31gun dawn salute in Boritala Memorial at Kishoreganj. The national flag was raised atop all government, semi-government, private building, Bank-Bimas and leading business house in the mornging. It was a public holiday.
Marking the Day a march-past was held at Kishoreganj Stadium ground at 8 a.m on Thursday where Deputy Commissioner S.M. Alam and Police Super Md. Anower Hossain Khan took salute.

Veteran freedom fighters and relatives of the martyred fighters were accorded a reception and discussion was held at Art Council Hall. Deputy Commissioner attended as Chief Guest.
Different socio-cultural organisation and political party including ruling Awami League, JSD, NAP, Gonotronti Party celebrated the Day.
A cultural function was held at Local Art Council Auditorium on Thursday evening.
Monirampur (Jessore) Correspondent says: The 45th Independence and National Day was celebrated in Monirampur on Thursday. The day’s programmes began with heralding of 31 gun salutes at police station and placing of wreaths at the altar of the central Shahid Minar located at Upazila Parishad. Among others Monirampur Press Club, Awami League . Upazila BNP, cultural organizations and educational institutions placed wreaths at the Shaheed Minar. Muktijoddaha Songshad also placed their wreaths at the altar.
Gopalganj Correspondent adds: The 45th Independence and Natiotional Day was observed in Gopalganj district on Thursday. The Day began in the early morning by firing 31gunshots at Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Gopalganj city. Earlier, floral wreaths were placed at the mazars of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara, Gopalganj.
District Administration, Awami League, BNP with others political parties and different cultural organisations placed floral wreaths and hoisted the national flag at the top of the buildings and independence and national memorial plaque near at Sheikh Kamal Stadium.
