Increasing revenue earning strengthens economy

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga has said increasing revenue earning continues strengthening national economy to accelerate development.
“The citizens are more conscious now about payment of income tax, value added tax (VAT) and customs duty to assist the government in implementing mega development projects like the Padma Bridge from our own resources,” he said.
Ranga was addressing a post-rally discussion organised by Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate at Zila Parishad Community Centre here in observance of the International Customs Day- 2017 on Thursday as the chief guest.
Earlier, Mayor of Rangpur Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu inaugurated the programme by releasing balloons and pigeons at the Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate office premises.
Later, a huge colourful rally was brought out in the city streets from the Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate office to Zila Parishad Community Centre.
Divisional Commissioner of Customs, Excise & VAT Commissionerate AKM Ahsanul Haque presided over the post-rally discussion.
Member of the National Board of Revenue Zia Uddin Ahmed, Regional Commander of BGB Brigadier General Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury, Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Harun-Ar-Rashid, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, Senior Vice-president of Rangpur Chamber Mostafa Ahmmed, addressed as special guests.
