Hajj Pilgrims Welfare Parishad(HPWP) Chittagong demanded increase o f hajj quota from Bangladesh in next hajj session.
The parishad requested the Saudi government to consider increase o f hajj quota from Bangladesh. Parishad sources said a total o f 127,000 pilgrims were permitted to perform hajj in last season which is not sufficient as per population of the country. In the meantime, the pre-registration of 1,27,000 intending hajis for 2018 already completed and the registration for next 2019 season also started. In this situation, our govt should think to do needful to persue the Saudi governmnet to increase the quota of pilgrims from Bangladesh .
The decision o f increasing hajj quota was taken at a meeting of the HPWP held at the conference hall of Hotel Paramount International on Thursday last with its President Ahmadul Islam Chowdhury in the chair. The proceedings o f the meeting begins following the address of welcome delivered.
