Inconsistence has been surfacing between the First Information Report (FIR) of the cases and the investigation reports. Several such inconsistencies have been observed recently during the High Court hearing. It is questioning the credibility of the police investigation.
The High Court on August 12 this year summoned two police officials attached to Ashulia Police Station to appear in the court to explain an inconsistency of an FIR in a drug case.
The summoned police officials are Md Miraj Hossain, a former Sub-Inspector of Ashulia Police Station now posted in Shakhipur Police Station at Shariatpur district, and Md Kayser Hamid, Investigation Officer of the case who is still at Ashulia Police Station.

Islam and Justice K M Zahid Sarwar passed the order after holding hearing on a bail petition filed by the lone accused of the case, Md Shahin Mia, who is now in jail after being arrested on July 18 in 2020 with some drugs.
The accused filed the bail petition with the High Court recently after lower court’s rejection, said Md Mizanur Rahman, an Assistant Attorney General, who appeared in the court on behalf of the state during the hearing.
Police detained Md Shahin Mia with some drugs on July 18 in 2020 and filed a case on the same day.
The informant and the investigation officers showed only 10 grams of heroin in the FIR, though the report prepared by the chemical laboratory of the CID mentioned that the quantity of recovered heroin was 71.25 grams. This inconsistency came into the notice of the court during the bail hearing of the accused.
In another case filed in the same police station on July 21 in 2020 the informant and the investigation officers showed only 11 grams of heroin in the FIR, though the report prepared by the chemical laboratory of the CID mentioned that the quantity of recovered heroin was 81.07 grams.
The same High Court Bench on August 13 this year came to know the inconsistency while holding hearing on a bail petition filed by the lone accused of the case Alamgir Bhuiyan. Upon hearing the bail petition the HC summoned Sub-Inspectors Md Fazar Ali, also informant of the case, and Md Abdul Jalil, investigation officer of the case.
Complying with the High Court orders the police officials appeared in the court on August 26 this year and submitted their explanation about the inconsistencies.
Upon hearing, the High Court on September 5 this year directed to refrain two informants of the cases, Md Miraj Hossain and Md Fazar Ali, from all kinds of investigation for one year. The court also warned the remaining two officials.
Assistant Attorney General Md Mizanur Rahman said, few police personnel did this intentionally for the purpose of personal gaining.
