Enhanced participation of the unemployed rural women with income generation activities can ensure their economic self-reliance, accelerate development and empowerment, speakers said on Wednesday afternoon.
They were addressing concluding ceremony of a month-long training course on tailoring and sewing organised by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) at its Madilahat Sub-Office in Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur under its Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP).
With Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP of WVB Badal Sangma in the chair, its Programme Manager Pabitra B Costa addressed the concluding ceremony as the chief guest.
Programme Officers of Fulbari ADP of WVB Gyanottar Chakma, Lal Thoyai Bom and Pallabi Murmu, Trainers of Thengamara Mohila Sabuz Sangha (TMSS) Ariful Islam and Dolly Akhter addressed as the special guests.
The NGO organised the month-long training course for 20 backward, unemployed extremely poor women, young girls and adolescents of different villages under Betdighee union in the upazila to assist them attaining self-reliance through self-employments.
In their speeches, the speakers put emphasis on skill development of the unemployed rural females for involving them with income generation activities to make them working forces in building an economically self-reliant and middle income nation.
They urged the public and private sectors for engaging their contribution in producing skilled work forces to turn every citizen, including rural women, into worthy when the country’s population increases creating more and more unemployment.
The chief guest suggested the trainee women for applying the practical knowledge they achieved from the training course on tailoring and sewing readymade handloom garments in alleviating poverty and achieving self-reliance side by side producing master trainers.
Besides, 40 more backward rural women, young girls and adolescents of Aladipur and Eluari unions in the upazila simultaneously completed similar month-long training courses on tailoring and sewing at Rangamati and Bezai Sub-centres of the NGO.
