Inclusive job centre for disabled likely

An inclusive job centre for people with disabilities will be established in the city, aiming to connect them with the mainstream development works by creating jobs for them, particularly in the readymade garment sector.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit
(GIZ) GmbH will jointly set up the job centre at the CRP office in the city.
A Memorandum of Understanding among the BGMEA, CRP and GIZ in this regard was signed on Monday at a function in the CRP office.
GIZ-implemented project ‘Promotion of Social and Environmental Standards in the Industry (PSES)’ arranged the event.
BGMEA vice president Reaz Bin Mahmood, CRP Executive Director Shafiqul Islam and GIZ programme coordinator of PSES Joechen Weikert signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
The centre will train up those with disabilities, including the ones who got paralysed in various garment factory accidents, to turn them skilled manpower and arrange jobs for them.
