Nirapad Sarak Chai (NISCHA) Chairman and Film Actor Ilias Kanchan has requested the government to include a chapter in textbooks about road accident.
“The government should encompass a chapter in textbooks on road mishap to create awareness among students”, he made this demand at a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club on Friday.
It was arranged by classmates and friends of Sadi Marshed, whom a passenger bus ran over in the city’s
Badda area on December 2. Sadi was a student of Independent University.
Ilias Kanchan demanding the arrest and punishment of the killer driver, sought a ‘safe road management’ to save people from ‘road-hell’.
“We have been struggling against road crash for 22 years. Those, who can stop the road tragedies, are found to be unwilling to act”, he said.
He argued the government to take emergency steps to avert tragic incidents.
Not only the drivers but also the commuters are liable for the road crash, he said. “Many people cross roads while talking over Mobile phones. If we refrain ourselves from these practices and be more cautious at the time of crossing the roads, the rate of accident must come down”. If harsh punishment is given, the mishap will also decrease, he opined.
He urged the passengers to hand over the killer driver to the lawmen instead of making a way for his escaping.
