The experts have urged the government to include the subject on thunderstorms awareness in the text book and should be read in each educational institution.
They recommended it at a view exchange meeting held in an auditorium of the capital DOHS. It was jointly organized by the Save the Society and Thunderstorm Awareness Forum (SSTAF) and Bangladesh Association for Social Advancement (BASA) on Thursday.
Lightning and fisheries expert Dr Munir Ahmed said, “Every year loss of lives and properties of people happen due to lack of awareness
on lightning strike. Save the Society and Thunderstorm Awareness Forum (SSTAF) Secretary General Rashim Mollah said, “We cannot resist thunderstorms, but minimise our losses by injecting lightning awareness.”
For this purpose, awareness programs should be launched in each educational institution.
BASA Director AKM Saiful Islam, Lightning Expert Dr Munir Ahmed, Senior Deputy Manager Liton Kumar Dutta, Sajedul Islam, SSTAF Secretary General Rashim Mollah, Vice-President Abdul Awal Chowdhury and Research Cell Head Abdul Alam were present at the programme.
