Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) distributed agriculture incentives among 1,760 small and marginal farmers to encourage Aus cultivation and poison free vegetable cultivation in three upazilas of the district.
The department distributed cash money, seed and fertiliser among the farmers.
Deputy Director of the DAE Sheikh Aminul Haque said each of the farmers got cash Taka 400, 10-kg seed, 20-kg urea, 10-kg DAP and 10-kg MOP for cultivating Aus (Upshi variety) paddy and for cultivating Nerika variety of Aus paddy, each of the farmers got cash Taka 400, 10-kg seed, 10-kg urea, 10-kg DAP and 10-kg MOP.
Besides, the DAE distributed Taka over 64,000 among 60 farmers in the three upazilas for cultivating poison free vegetables. Of the total, some 800 farmers got the allowance in Sadar upazila, 580 in Kalia upazila and 380 farmers in Lohagara upazila.
It was also mentioned, the DAE has fixed a target to cultivate 6,419 hectares of land under the Aus cultivation in the three upazilas.
