Staff Reporter :
Imran H Sarkar, spokesman of the Gonojagaron Mancha and head of Bangladesh Blogger and Activist Network, has expressed severe concern over the death of blogger Niloy Neel.
“Niloy Neel had been an anti-extremist voice of reason. He was the voice against fundamentalism and extremism and was even a voice for minority
rights – especially women’s rights and the rights of indigenous people,” he told the BBC in an instant reaction on Friday.
In his facebook page, Dr Imran further wrote: “Niloy Neel? was writing for women rights, indigenous peoples, even for all other minorities. He was critic of religious extremism that provoked bombing in mosque and killing thousands of civilians.”
“He was one of the voice for Social Justice, secularism, human rights and loud for? justice. He frequently got threatened by Islamic militants those are trying to destroy this country by terrorism,” he continued.
Imran said, “He has been killed today [Friday]. He was my mate in the fight of establishing justice in Bangladesh. He was killed for demanding justice for #AvijitRoy, ?#?Washikur?, ?#?AnantaBijoy?. Who is next for demanding justice for Niloy? I don’t know but I’ll be there till my breath for justice & rule of law in ?#?Bangladesh?.”
“Support us in this fight for a safe motherland that we got sacrificing blood of three millions. Support us for a country of its 160 million people,” he said in the facebook post.
Meanwhile, the concerned circle has expressed annoyance about such comments of Imran Sarkar terming it ‘highly provocative’.
They said such type of remarks after a heinous murder could invite more trouble to the fellow workers of the victim.
The concerned circle also raised questions about the ‘intention’ of such comments when Imran Sarkar is moving around freely wherever he wants, whereas, his colleges are becoming the victims of extremist killers one by one.
