Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique
underscored the need for improving the quality of primary education as it is the foundation of the higher education.
He said this on Tuesday while addressing the inauguration of 5-day workshop titled “Effective Implementation of DPEd Programme” at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) on Dhaka University campus.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the programme as the chief guest with Director of IER Professor Husne Ara Begum in the chair, said a DU press release.
Additional Director General of Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) Sultan Mahmud, Director General of National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) Md Fazlur Rahman and DPE Director (training) Bijoy Bhushan Paul addressed the function as special guests.
Coordinator of the workshop, Professor Dr Sharmin Haq delivered welcome speech in the programme, the release added.
DU VC also urged the primary school teachers to instill honesty, patriotism, morality and sincerity into the students from primary level to make them worthy citizens of the country.
More than 50 trainers from Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) participated in the workshop, it said.
