Internet connection of Customs Depatt snapped: Importers facing severe problems

The importers are facing utter complications following the snapping of internet connections in Customs Department from yesterday morning.
The duty assessment of the consignment could not be done caused sufferings to the traders. Customs sources said there is no fault in server but internet connections sometimes disturbing so as the assessment process is going at snail pace. C&F Association sources said if the assessment is not completed in due time, the delivery of consignment will be halted as a result the importer have to pay additional port charges.
Meanwhile the C&F workers protested the slow process of assessment and they assembled in front of Customs commissioner office to apprise the matter.
While contacted Customs affairs secretary of C&F Agents Assoc Liaquat Ali said the assessment through internet was going slowly from Sunday .
Due to internet disruptions, the processing of assessment through internet is hampering, said Asstt Commissioner of Customs (Operation)M. Sajjad Hossain. He also said the matter of internet disruptions have been apprised to BTCL immediately.
