Imported poultry feeds allowed for delivery without lab tests

Despite restrictions on discharging imported poultry feeds and medicines under Import policy, Chittagong Customs Authority permitted the consignee for delivery of 52 items of poultry feeds, medicines without lab tests .
 A reliable sources said in absence of Group-1 Assistant Commissioner of customs Kamrul Islam , Acting Assistant Commissioner Moffazal Hossain permitted the importer to take delivery of the poultry consignment on Monday.
While contacted Joint Commissioner of Customs Rezaul Hoque told The New Nation that lab testing of poultry feeds and medicines is mandatory before the delivery and he directed the concerned officials to inquire the matter immediately. It is learnt after permission, the delivery of the consignment will begin from today but some importers already taken away their consignments in the meantime.
 Joint commissioner further told the media that if any importer took delivery of their consignments without lab tests, disciplinary actions will be taken against them accordingly. A customs sources said there is a standing instructions that the samples of the such consignments of poultry industries should be tested from the lab of Chittagong Veterinary University before taking delivery .
 It is learnt from unauthenticated sources that some unscrupulous poultry feed traders import contraband commodities with false declarations of poultry feeds aimed at evading govt taxes and such types of consignments were detained in port sheds earlier.
