The BNP-led 20-party alliance on Tuesday announced a two-day programme beginning Wednesday protesting the government move to amend the constitution to restore parliament’s power to remove the Supreme Court judges.
As part of the programme, the alliance will stage demonstration across the country except capital Dhaka on Wednesday.
The 20-party will also observe similar programme in the capital city on Thursday.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan announced the programme at a press briefing at the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
The Constitution (Sixteenth Amendment) Bill, 2014, seeking to empower Parliament to remove Supreme Court judges, was placed in the House on Sunday.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq placed the Bill in Parliament and it was then sent to the relevant parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny. –UNB, Dhaka.
