IMCAB new executives

The members of Indian Media Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB) have elected their new biennial committee for the year 2017-18.
The election to the 13-member executive committee was held on Monday at National Press Club at Dhaka where Bashudeb Dhar of the Daily Statesman (Kolkata) elected as president and Dip Azad of Times Now TV as general secretary.
The other elected office-bearers are: Advisor- Haroon Habib (The Hindu), vice president- Quddus Afrad (Daily Anandabazar Patrika, Kolkata); joint secretary – Anwarul Karim Raju (Daily Sambad, Agartala & Daily Eastern Chronicle, Delhi/Guwahati); treasurer Rafiqul Islam Sabuj (Daily Desher Katha, Agartala). Executive members are Ataur Rahman (Daily Ganashakti, Kolkata), Sukumar Sarkar (Daily Sangbad Pratidin, Kolkata), Anisur Rahman (Press Trust of India), Nirman Chakrabarti (Daily Uttarbanga Sangbad, Siliguri), Rajib Khan (Zee Media), Mousum Akon (Daily Jugashankha, Assam), Layekujjaman (Daily Uttorer Saradin, Siliguri).
Earlier, the emergency meeting of the Indian based journalists in Bangladesh was held at the same venue with Ataur Rahman in the chair. The meeting expressed sorrow and condolences over the demise of IMCAB member Alhaj Johurul Hoq (Daily Aajkaal, Kolkata).
