A house wife was brutally tortured and eyes damaged by her husband suspecting her as engaging in extramarital affairs.
This incident was happened at Santoshi village in Charadi Union under Bakerganj Upazila of the district on early Tuesday.
Victim was Shahinur Begum, 40, and alleged accused was her husband Mawlana Abdus Sattar,45, Imam of local mosque and Charadi union president of Bangladesh Mujahid Committee.
Both were admitted at female and male surgery wards of Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
However later on Tuesday afternoon police arresting husband Mawlana Sattar after discharged from the hospital brought to Bakerganj PS as his wife alleged attack on her by her husband.
Police recorded statements of the victim Shahinur Begum and a case was under preparation in this connection till this report, said Foyez Uddin Mridha, officer in charge (investigation) of Bakerganj Police Station.
Victim Shahinur Begum said the journalist she got married with Mawlana Sattar in 2004 and they have three children. Her husband working as an Imam of local mosque and their three children admitted at local Madrasha. Husband often failed to give family maintaining cost properly and suspecting her as involved in extramarital affairs.
On early Tuesday around 2.30 AM husband Mawlana Sattar and another one entering in her bed room tying her hands and legs started torturing. Then with an knife husband hit on her eyes for gauging out. He also tried to pick out her teeth and entering sticks in her ears tried to make her deaf and also tried to kill her.
This time it was raining cats and dogs and none can heard her clamor. Then she begging pardon and mercy for her life and promised not to disclose any thing about the torture.
If I disclose that then you can kill me. Then he injuring minor started shouting that dacoits attacked his house and injured him and his wife. Then neighbours rushed to the spot and brought to hospital informing police, Shahinur describing the story told journalist and police.
Dr Md. Ferdous. surgeon of Female surgery-3 said Her eyes damaged heavily and we only succeeded stop bleeding. Most probably she may loss her eye sight.
`We already recorded the statement of victim and deployed police guard against the accused husband under treatment at same hospital, police sources told at noon.
On other hand accused Mawlana Satter denying attacking and injuring her wife said Shahinur was involved in extra marital affairs for long days and so some of them may attacked and inured her.
