A delegation of the International Labor Organization has met Faruque Hassan, the president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
The ILO delegation led by its country director Tuomo Poutiainen visited the BGMEA office in the capital on Sunday, said a press release.
Leaders from both organisations discussed the progresses of ongoing projects jointly implemented by ILO and BGMEA in RMG sector.
They also discussed the possible avenues of collaboration between ILO and BGMEA for further development of the industry and well-being of workers.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan expressed his gratitude to the ILO for providing its support to Bangladesh garment industry in ensuring workers’ rights and welfare.
ILO country director Tuomo Poutiainen praised progresses made in workplace safety and meeting social compliance in Bangladesh’s RMG sector.
BGMEA vice president Miran Ali, directors Shehrin Salam Oishee and Asif Ashraf also attended the meeting.
