Police to raise monitoring against sale, registration of such vehicles

Police have decided to increase monitoring against sale and registration of illegally imported Yamaha brand motorcycles as they are being used in different crime incidents.
Though court issued an order not to providing registration to illegally imported different brand of motorcycles specially arguing their use for crime, the selling of those motorbikes are not stopped yet.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has been instructed that ACI Motors Limited is the only legitimate organization for the import and marketing of Yamaha brand motorcycles in the country. But some organizations are illegally importing the motorcycles of this brand.
They include Push International, New Sonargaon Motors, RN Enterprises, Polaris Tech Limited and Power Pack International.
According to the court’s ruling, the registration and road permit has been suspended of the illegally imported motorbikes due to security reason.
BRTA Chairman Md Moshiyar Rahman said, the customers are being cheated and the government looses real VAT and Tax from those bikes. BRTA warned not to purchase illegally imported motorcycles from unauthorized dealers, agents and vendors.
A senior BRTA official (Engineering) said that the matter has come to our notice. BRTA is in the highest alert position to take necessary action in this regard. If necessary, the documents will be taken if there is a court order to ban illegal imported Yamaha motorcycle.
General Manager of ACI Motors Limited Md Khairul Ahsan said, “The court has given the verdict by verifying our papers. With this verdict, it will be possible to increase the revenue of the government as well as prevent frauds with consumers.”
