Vigilance team of Chattogram Customs House seized 13,131 cans of foreign beer of different brands from container at Chattogram Port on Tuesday last.
Deputy Commissioner of CCH Nuruddin Milan told that Dhaka based importer Trade International with declaration of different species of chemicals, drinks powder, coco powder, baking powder imported this contraband beers .
Suspecting the misdeclaration , physical inventory branch led by Asstt. Commissioner Mizanur Rahman conducted physical inventory of the container where found huge quantities of contraband foreign beer cans inside the container. The seized beers consist of 1,900 Honeycan beer cans , 817 leser beer cans , 792 zinzer beer, 1499 Power Horse can, 6048 liters Red bull drinks Customs said in case of import of beers , there is a compulsion of NOC from Narcotics Control Deptt and after payment of vat, excise duty, import duties properly as per tariff , these imported beers may be releasedll otherwise these beers will be confiscated and case will be lodged against the importer for committing the offence through false declaration, sources added.
