Coastguards, customs officials and RAB in a drive at Chittagong city’s Teribazar seized 550 pieces of clothes.
The items — including sari, salwar kamiz and lehenga — were brought from abroad through evading tax, said Lt Commander M Saiful Islam of Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone).
Those were seized from two shops as the sellers could not show any legal document, he said. However, Ahmed Hossain, general secretary of Teribazar Traders’ Association, claimed that they showed such documents.
