The main administrative building of the Premier University of Chittagong run by the Chittagong City Corporation is going to be abolished very shortly as it constructed over the city drain pavement in Chittagong Medical College area(Pabartak Crossing ).
The university was established in 2000 by the City Corporation during the Mayorship of Alhaj ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury .
The decision of demolition of the Admn Building was taken in the meeting of the University Trusty Board held on Monday last with City Mayor Manzoor Alam in the chair. The 4-storied main administrative building will be demolished by this year, sources said. Chairman of the Trusty Board and Mayor Manzoor Alam presided over it. Conscious quarters observed following the wrong decision of the former Mayor, now the expensive 4-storied building is going to be abolished. At present PU have 5 separate campuses in city with 10 thousand students in different faculties but all the administrative function was controlled from the first building of the PU situated at Pabartak Crossing.
Offices of VC, Pro-VC, Registrar, Accounts Department are located in this building. Mentionable that in the Trusty Board meeting, the matter of waterlogging in Pabartak area placed in the meeting where the officials, and engineers blamed the PU building for only water-logging in this area which is denied by the former mayor.
